The Blazers will hold the first practice at 8 a.m. and the second at 10:15 a.m. Those players that practice in the first session today will work in the second session Tuesday. Today and Tuesday’s practice will feature the team wearing helmets and shorts. The Blazers can move into shells (helmets and shoulder pads) Wednesday before full-contact drills begin on Friday, the first day of full-team practice.
Despite reports, former Lowndes standout and Florida State defender Greg Reid will not be present today at camp. In fact, Reid remains uncommitted to a football program and a future school for the two-time Region 1-AAAAA Player of the Year is still undetermined.
Regardless, the Blazers begin fall practice today with high expectations. Last week, the coaches within the Gulf South Conference picked VSU to win the conference this season.
The Blazers were 6-4 last season. Practices are open to the public.
Soccer, volleyball begin practice Wednesday
The VSU soccer and volleyball teams officially open practice Wednesday. The teams report to camp today and will hold meetings today and Tuesday before being able to hold their first practices of the fall.The soccer team was picked to finish third in the conference this season, while the volleyball team was tabbed to finish fourth. Both teams finished last season with a winning record and the soccer team appeared in the conference championship game.
